Frequently asked questions

Does the text stay selectable?

Yes. Most compressors flatten every page into a picture — the file gets smaller, but the text becomes an image that cannot be copied, searched or read aloud by a screen reader. This tool leaves the text alone and only re-encodes the photos inside.

It barely got smaller. Why?

Because there was nothing to squeeze. A PDF exported from a word processor is almost all text, which is already tiny. Heavy PDFs are heavy because of scans and photos — that is where the savings come from. If there is nothing to compress, the tool says so instead of pretending.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. Mainstream online PDF services upload your file to their servers and delete it after a while; here there is nothing to wait for.
